About The Position

Consumers Energy is Michigan’s largest energy provider, serving 6.8 million residents across 68 Lower Peninsula counties. The company's primary focus is ensuring reliable, clean, and affordable energy delivery 24/7. This Senior Program Engineer role is responsible for overseeing the engineering and technical aspects of project completion. Key duties include project planning, establishing project criteria, coordinating reviews, and ensuring proper implementation of all project elements. The role involves scheduling, planning, forecasting, resourcing, and managing all technical activities to ensure project accuracy and quality from conception to completion. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship and cannot hire individuals with CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program with four (4) or more years of experience in a program engineer capacity OR Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from a non-ABET accredited program plus a Professional Engineering license with four (4) or more years of experience in a program engineer capacity
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in design and visualization software such as AutoCAD.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles.
  • Familiarity with industry rules, regulations, best practices, and performance standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • Mechanical background, ie: piping, fluid flow, vibration, thermodynamics, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Support an Agile project delivery cadence by balancing team performance with tight deadlines.
  • Develop specifications for required project equipment.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable codes, regulations, QA/QC policies, performance standards, and specifications.
  • Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Evaluate engineering tasks and implement necessary corrective measures.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to project managers and other project stakeholders.
  • Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and monitor assigned engineering projects.
  • Assign responsibilities and mentor project team members.
  • Build strong partnerships with stakeholders and develop a deep understanding of their business objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or as needed.
