About The Position

The Senior Product Manager of Portfolio Management supports the global expansion of the da Vinci portfolio and reports to the Director of Product Management. The role positions the integrated product portfolio for different customer segments and regions, works with Regional Portfolio Management and Commercial Marketing teams to localize positioning, and supports Product Operations in prioritizing launch-readiness activities. It also documents and aligns the rationalized portfolio across regions, partnering with Multiport franchise Product Managers to maximize procedure growth. The Product Management team represents both business needs and the needs of surgeons and operating-room team members to the broader business units. This position uses data and analytics to assess portfolio tradeoffs, guide regional strategic planning, and align regional portfolio requests with da Vinci Business Unit strategies. It establishes goals and measures of success, communicates portfolio decisions and launch timelines to stakeholders, and develops processes that improve portfolio management and launch planning. The role also monitors competitive, emerging, and complementary technologies and their potential impact on product positioning.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required.
At least 8 years of experience.
3–5 years of experience in Medical Device Product Management.
Experience defining and managing market and portfolio positioning for medical devices.
Extensive experience segmenting customers and positioning products for targeted customers.
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills across multiple regions.
Ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority and bridge communication among Commercial Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Portfolio Lifecycle Management, Program Management, and executive leadership.
Ability to work in surgical labs and operating rooms.
International travel may be needed.

Nice To Haves

Graduate business degree or certificate(s).
Strong knowledge of the minimally invasive robotic surgery market.
Experience with minimally invasive surgical products, including capital equipment, software launches, and AI prompts.
Experience working with teams outside the U.S.

Responsibilities

Use a data-driven approach to manage tradeoff discussions with regional product management, Product Lifecycle Operations, and the Program Office.
Assess the current product portfolio to position regional teams for a high likelihood of success.
Support regional strategic planning using analytics and modeling to determine the appropriate portfolio for each customer segment.
Communicate portfolio decisions clearly to internal and external stakeholders, particularly after investment decisions are made.
Align regional commercial portfolio requests with da Vinci Business Unit strategies and execute the overall portfolio strategy, including launch acceleration, growth targets, portfolio goals, and success measures.
Develop and track team goals and objectives aligned with business units and portfolio lifecycle timelines, and hold the team accountable for results.
Build processes with Regional Commercial Marketing and Product Managers to improve portfolio management and inform product launch timelines.
Work cross-functionally to ensure launch timelines are broadly understood and met in each regional market.
Understand competitive, emerging, and complementary technologies and assess their potential impact on Intuitive’s product positioning.
Partner with Regional Portfolio Management and Commercial Marketing teams to position the da Vinci portfolio for existing and new segments and localize positioning.
Support Product Operations teams in prioritizing launch-readiness activities.
Partner with Multiport franchise Product Managers to align the portfolio across regions and maximize procedure growth.
