Sr Process Owner, RDC Design Team

Target•Minneapolis, MN
•$73,000 - $132,000

About The Position

As a Senior Process Owner on Target’s Supply Chain Operations, Process Design and Innovation (PDI) Team, you will shape future supply chain operations by owning process design for the Packing function within Target’s Regional Distribution Centers (RDCs). The role sits at the intersection of process design and scalable operational development, and leads small-to-medium initiatives or workstreams within larger projects to evaluate processes that can unlock technology and efficiency improvements. The position involves framing problems and impacts, identifying measurable opportunities, partnering with product, data, operations, finance, safety, and field teams, building metric plans and business cases, coordinating validation or pilot readiness, and making recommendations. The broader PDI team develops future design requirements, cycle-time models, Standard Work, training, and field implementation plans, and supports problem solving through handoff to run-state operations. Work includes benchmarking, site observations, field feedback, testing, and improving legacy RDCs. Duties may change based on business needs.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience in engineering, supply chain, process improvement, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in supply chain, engineering, or process improvement.
  • Experience improving an operational process or evaluating a process or technology solution using data, observation, root-cause problem solving, and measurable success criteria.
  • Experience leading small-to-medium initiatives or larger workstreams in cross-functional environments, including coordinating partners, managing action items, resolving issues, and developing recommendations.
  • Working knowledge of structured problem-solving approaches such as Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC, value stream mapping, metric planning, or pilot and validation planning.
  • Strong analytical ability using Excel and operational data to size opportunities, validate assumptions, identify patterns, and support business recommendations.
  • Ability to create clear written and visual materials explaining complex process, engineering, data, and business tradeoffs to cross-functional partners.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% as needed for benchmarking, validation, pilots, launch, handoff, or other business needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), either directly or through close partnership with Product or Technology teams to improve or modernize WMS functionality for Operations.
  • Experience with distribution center operations, warehouse process design, material handling systems, and WMS; experience rolling out new WMS systems is a plus.
  • Experience developing business cases, designing pilots, validating operational performance, or transitioning solutions to operational-owner teams.
  • Experience with data extraction, data visualization, simulation, Miro, Smartsheet, or other tools that support analysis, collaboration, and execution.
  • SQL, data extraction, or data visualization experience.
  • Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt certification, or supply chain, industrial engineering, or automation-related certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Own process design for Packing functions.
  • Create future design requirements and process flows for a modernized Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Create and maintain cycle-time models and Standard Work documentation.
  • Lead training, field implementation, and problem solving.
  • Define clear process opportunities and solutions.
  • Lead or project-manage cross-functional teams, establishing problem statements, success measures, assumptions, risks, decision points, business-case inputs, and recommendations.
  • Coordinate partners across product, technology, field, data and analytics, finance, safety, and quality.
  • Use benchmarking, operational observations, data analysis, root-cause analysis, and metric planning to assess scalability and business value.
  • Develop and manage project plans, decision logs, action items, test plans, validation criteria, and handoff documentation.
  • Create clear, visually effective communications that explain complex insights, tradeoffs, progress, risks, decisions, and recommendations.
  • Facilitate meetings and working sessions to clarify roles, resolve misalignment, remove barriers, and maintain momentum across teams.
