About The Position

The Computing Solutions Department is looking for a Sr. Principal Project Engineer for the development of the next generation product line solutions in Melbourne, FL. The Computing Solutions organization is focused on the development of solutions that can be applied across a wide variety of Avionics products in safety critical applications. Our team is responsible for the development, certification and sustainment of these solutions. We are seeking a strong leader with an action oriented mindset who is capable of managing large, complex projects. Your responsibilities include keeping the cross functional teams on track for schedule and budget. This role will involve a high level of collaboration in order to build and enhance development teams while operating with integrity. This is also an excellent opportunity to work with a highly experienced team of architects and senior engineers with program visibility across the Avionics business units.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large development teams
  • Experience managing technical projects including schedule and earned value management.
  • Proven record of meeting goals and commitments.
  • Possess a collaborative way of working.
  • Strong communicator and influencer skills, able to work with cross functional teams with several skillsets and interdependencies between functional groups.

  • Experience with Avionics regulatory and certification requirements: TSO, MIL-STD, DO-160, DO-254, DO-178B/C, DO-297 , ARP-4754A

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the engineering project leader for programs developing Avionics products.
  • Coordinate hardware, software, systems and firmware scope to meet program commitments.
  • Serve as engineering project leader supplying project management and technical direction during all program phases including pursuits, bidding, planning, execution and sustainment.
  • Ensure compliance with Collins Aerospace technical engineering processes.
  • Lead a cross functional engineering development team.
  • Keep the teams on target for schedule commitments while balancing the budget.
