About The Position
The Sr. Postgres DBA will work remotely and must be employed on the company's W-2. The role requires advanced PostgreSQL administration and performance-tuning expertise, experience with AWS and Linux, and knowledge of highly available and resilient database architectures. The position also focuses on secure, compliant database operations, automated deployment practices, IT service delivery, and thorough documentation.
Requirements
- Experience with Database Migration Service (DMS).
- Solid understanding of high-availability and resiliency architecture, including Multi-AZ and Multi-Region deployment architectures.
- Advanced experience in a Linux environment.
- Experience in an AWS environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with database security and compliance controls, including FISMA/FedRAMP requirements, encryption at rest and in transit (SSL/TLS), role-based access control (RBAC), and audit logging using pgAudit.
- Advanced expertise in PostgreSQL query performance tuning, including EXPLAIN, index design and optimization, and autovacuum configuration.
- Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines, such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline, for database deployments.
- Demonstrated performance leading IT services delivery and achieving service level agreements.
- Must be able to work on the company's W-2.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with database migration tools such as Liquibase or Flyway.
