About The Position

The American Medical Association (AMA) is seeking a Sr. Policy Analyst (Hybrid) for its Digital Health & AI team in Washington, D.C. This role provides expertise and support on policy work related to Digital Health and AI, focusing on research and development of policies that advance the understanding of these areas among physicians. The position involves collaboration with internal business units and external partners on policy initiatives. The analyst will perform a range of assignments within their discipline, using prescribed guidelines and policies, and will receive moderate guidance while building knowledge of the AMA Mission and processes. This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in the Washington, DC office.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree required.
5+ years of experience in healthcare policy analysis in an academic, government, corporate, or non-profit setting required.
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders and help synthesize multiple viewpoints into recommendations.
Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex issues into clear, well-organized written materials for varying audiences.
Solid organizational and communication skills, with experience supporting multi-stakeholder projects or coordination.
Strong critical thinking skills to support policy analysis and recommendations.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with people across disciplines, backgrounds, and levels of expertise.
Comfortable representing the AMA in a professional capacity as needed.
Politically savvy.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree strongly preferred.
Experience in people management preferred.
Familiarity with digital health and AI trends in the healthcare industry strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Support the development of AMA policy positions on digital health and AI, including research and analysis to inform new policy recommendations and strategies.
Draft and contribute to policy reports, reviews, summaries, comment letters, and presentation materials.
Prepare correspondence and briefing materials for Senior Management and AMA offices on key digital health and AI issues.
Monitor state and federal legislative and regulatory developments in digital health and AI and prepare summaries and analysis of their implications for physicians.
Contribute to the development of educational and communications resources and events.
Collaborate with internal business units to help maintain effective relationships with relevant entities, including Sections and Federation societies, in support of shared digital health and AI priorities.
Coordinate with internal business units such as Advocacy and Enterprise Communications to help ensure consistent messaging to stakeholders.
Support the planning and logistics of convenings, briefings, conferences, and presentations related to digital health policy.
Help build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders including medical specialty societies, industry groups, and coalitions.
Assist in the day-to-day management of AMA coalitions, including coordination and correspondence.
May include other responsibilities as assigned.
