The Hanford Vit Plant, also known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant, is a one-of-a-kind facility being designed and built to turn radioactive and chemical waste into a form safe for disposal. This role will contribute to protecting the Columbia River and surrounding communities. The community offers year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun, numerous wineries, and is a short drive to Seattle and Portland.

Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge.)
  • Non-U.S. citizens from countries identified by the Department of Energy as posing heightened security concerns—including sensitive countries, state sponsors of terrorism, countries of risk, and other designated countries –are subject to additional security requirements that limit site access.

  • Familiarity with common pipe support hardware, industry standards, and relevant codes such as AISC & ASME B31.3.

Responsibilities

  • Leads or administers work of PD&P designers and drafters for a business line technology to include the preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models and construction drawings
  • Develops designs for complete and complex 3D model equipment layouts & pipe designs with minimum supervision from which detailed scale models and/or construction drawings are completed
  • Prepares or assists with the preparation of assigned material requisitions and bid evaluations
  • Monitors and checks work for compliance with approved PD&P design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy
  • Participates in constructability reviews
  • Prepares design and drafting procedures to standardize design effort
  • Coordinates or makes jobsite visits, as required, to resolve problems and interpret drawings and documents
  • Reviews PD&P design scope changes, as required, for project management
  • Endorses or prepares reports of work progress, as required, for project and discipline use
  • Ensures PD&P systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards
