About The Position

The Sr Opex/Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for providing a broad range of professional continuous improvement support to manufacturing operations and plant facility maintenance; provide project responsibility for the execution of complex projects and project assignments within the Operational Excellence department; develop more complex engineering and process control documentation for manufacturing needs; provide coordination and technical guidance to production personnel as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 2 years of manufacturing or continuous improvement engineering experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Only candidates residing within the immediate Greenwood, SC area (50 miles) will be considered for this position. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 4 years of manufacturing or continuous improvement engineering experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Training and experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Tools.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with PC and related software (Microsoft Office, ERP SAP, AS400, AutoCAD).

Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge of manufacturing, fabrication and assembly processes, tooling and fixturing design and applications
  • Develop and implement improvements to manufacturing and its procedures and processes through improved layout and material handling procedures.
  • Train factory operators in the use of equipment, tooling and procedures.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee changes and upgrades to the manufacturing facility.
  • Lead events such as Shop Floor and Rapid Improvement Events to achieve factory cost-out target in your support area.
  • Conduct a line capacity analysis and lead labor productivity improvement initiatives to achieve the business objective.
  • Specify, design, quote, install, debug, and maintain equipment for use in manufacturing.
  • Write capital appropriations (CAR) for new equipment in conjunction with the SCM team and be responsible for documentation associated with the purchase (ex. Prolaunch, Timelines, Management of Change, MESH 8.0/Safety).
  • Support the team with documentation such as process flow diagrams, PFMEA’s, and Control Plans.
  • Support Eaton’s digitization initiatives with the implementation of manufacturing execution systems (MES) in shop floor, electronic data presentation, Industry 4.0 and automation.
  • Support other key plant processes and provide cross-functional support as directed.
  • Support IGX product line with tasks such as gas handling, camera programming, and fan circuit programming with other functions.
