Sr. Metrology Engineer II

Corning•Harrodsburg, KY
•Onsite

About The Position

As part of the Division Quality - Metrology group, the Sr. Metrology Engineer II leads metrology technology transfer from R&D to production and provides technical leadership in metrology problem-solving. The role leads projects from concept through implementation to support R&D-to-manufacturing transfer and production readiness, including metrology planning, gauge development, system qualification, deployment, and production release. The engineer collaborates with quality assurance, engineering, manufacturing, software, and controls teams to implement measurement solutions. The role develops metrology strategies that account for gauge capability, capacity, lead time, and cost; develops and qualifies gauges and measurement systems for critical product characteristics; and improves and validates test methods. It also supports fixture and tool development, measurement-data reporting and analysis, traceability, operator interfaces, data collection systems, and databases. The position documents gauge engineering and operational instructions, prepares measurement-system development and qualification reports, trains users, and provides technical support. It provides second-level troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and sustainable corrective actions for plant gauges, and leads gauge alignment and metrology standardization, including MSA, across internal plants, contract manufacturers, and customer sites as needed. The role evaluates gauge capability and capacity and drives continuous improvement and long-term metrology capability development. The position is 100% onsite in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, at 40 hours per week, with work hours as needed to deliver projects and support requirements. Domestic travel of approximately 5% may be required, depending on project stage and schedule, to Corning, New York.
