•$99,000 - $124,000

About The Position

The Sr. Mechanical Engineer designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates primarily mechanical systems, equipment, and packages. The role may contribute to systems engineering across disciplines, conduct feasibility studies, and test new or modified designs. Work spans all development phases, from initial concept through manufacturing, and may include directing support personnel in detailed design, design testing, and prototype fabrication. The engineer provides design information for packaging documentation and, depending on role level, may serve as a project engineer or leader responsible for proposals, project plans and schedules, work assignments, primary customer contact, technical presentations, and cross-functional issue resolution. The role also requires staying current on technical advances in mechanical engineering and related fields.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 5–10 years of design experience.
  • Completed at least two product life cycles from concept to production as a key contributor.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform engineering analysis and familiarity with commonly used analysis tools, such as FEM.
  • Experienced user of SolidWorks CAD or an equivalent CAD program.
  • Knowledge of machining and fabrication processes for metals and commonly used plastics.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with flexibility and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong work ethic and good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter able to work independently with minimal supervision or direction.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Design experience with mechanisms, robotics, or automation.
  • Experience designing robotics, automation mechanisms, and complex electromechanical products.
  • ISO 13485 and FDA/cGMP experience.

Responsibilities

  • Generate concepts and design product mechanisms, subassemblies, and packaging; perform engineering analysis and produce detailed designs and drawings.
  • Identify and select vendors, and outsource off-the-shelf components, custom items, and fabricated parts and assemblies.
  • Assemble, troubleshoot, debug, and qualify subsystems and components; resolve design issues as appropriate.
  • Clearly communicate and document ideas, options, problems, issues, and test results.
  • Develop documentation for product development and production transfer, including models, detail drawings, diagrams, bills of materials, and assembly procedures.
  • Ensure specifications, schedules, and budgets are met.
  • Support manufacturing and field service after product release.
  • Work effectively within a team environment.
  • Depending on level, manage project proposals, plans, schedules, work assignments, primary contact responsibilities, technical presentations, and cross-functional issue resolution.
