Sr. Mechanical Design Engineering Manager PGM

Honeywell Aerospace•Phoenix, AZ

About The Position

The Sr. Mechanical Design Engineering Manager – PGM leads the mechanical design engineering function responsible for Honeywell Aerospace’s power generators and motors. The role ensures robust mechanical architecture, detailed design execution, cross-functional integration, and lifecycle partnership for generator and motor hardware used across commercial, defense, and advanced technology programs. It sits within Design, Installations & Services Engineering and manages a high-performing team delivering new product introduction, product sustainment, technology maturation, and mechanical design excellence for rotating electrical machines. The team is located across Torrance, California; Phoenix, Arizona; and Mexicali, Mexico. Up to 25% travel is expected to support the team. The role leads mechanical design strategy, standards, and execution for PGM hardware, including rotors, stators, housings, bearings, cooling features, and structural elements. It guides design from concept through detailed execution and ensures compliance with performance, durability, manufacturability, cost, and certification requirements. The manager leads mechanical work scopes and cost estimates for new development, major redesigns, and advanced technology demonstrations, and ensures delivery of models, drawings, analyses, and configuration releases to program schedules. The position manages and develops a global team, promotes mechanical design excellence and digital engineering, and oversees performance management, staffing, labor forecasting, and resource allocation. It partners with Power Systems and ISC leadership on technology direction and investment priorities, contributes to enterprise design standards and tools, and supports technology maturation and next-generation PGM architecture. It also owns design process compliance and improvement, and champions design governance through reviews and hardware readiness checkpoints. Candidates must meet U.S. export-control requirements: be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status, or have the ability to obtain export authorization.
