Design Manager-Mechanical Engineering
About The Position
Our client, a leading engineering and design-build firm serving industrial, infrastructure, environmental, and energy markets, is seeking a Design Manager – Mechanical Engineering with strong process engineering experience. The firm delivers integrated engineering, design, and construction services for industries including oil and gas processing, renewable energy, solid waste and recycling, food and beverage, environmental remediation, and water and wastewater infrastructure. The Design Manager will lead mechanical design efforts across a diverse portfolio of industrial and infrastructure projects. The role coordinates engineering activities, manages design deliverables, and supports efficient project execution from conceptual development through final design and construction. Reporting directly to the Engineering Vice President, the Design Manager works closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers, and construction professionals to deliver high-quality, constructible designs that align with project requirements, schedules, and budgets.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Significant experience in mechanical engineering design, preferably within industrial, process, or design-build environments.
- Demonstrated experience with process engineering, process piping, mechanical systems, and industrial equipment.
- Experience leading engineering design teams and coordinating multidisciplinary project activities.
- Strong understanding of engineering design principles, specifications, standards, and codes.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines effectively.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with engineering, project management, and construction teams.

Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate mechanical engineering design activities across multiple industrial and infrastructure projects.
- Oversee process-related mechanical design, including process piping, equipment layouts, and system integration.
- Manage design schedules, deliverables, technical reviews, and coordination between engineering disciplines.
- Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and other engineering disciplines to ensure designs are practical, constructible, and aligned with project objectives.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to mechanical engineers and design personnel.
- Review engineering calculations, specifications, drawings, and design documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Support project planning, design development, and execution throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering standards, design processes, and overall project efficiency.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

- Competitive salary of $170,000–$200,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
