Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer

Medtronic•Newton, MA
•$106,400 - $159,600•Onsite

About The Position

As a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer in CAS Research & Technology (R&T), you will support the initial design of electrophysiology devices for use with the Affera Mapping and Ablation System. This high-impact role helps define the design direction for future catheter and sheath products. The Affera system uses advanced mapping to image the heart’s electrical activity and targeted energy to disrupt abnormal signals that cause cardiac arrhythmias. The role involves designing mechanical elements of cardiac electrophysiology catheters and other Class II and III devices intended for high-volume assembly. It also involves developing manufacturing and assembly processes for complex catheter assemblies with miniature precision electromechanical components, and working cross-functionally to integrate electrical components and systems with mechanical designs. The position follows Medtronic’s minimum four-day-per-week onsite work model.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or a PhD with 0 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong design experience with mechanical products.
  • Excellent working knowledge of 3D CAD tools; SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Command of theoretical and practical engineering fundamentals.
  • Interest in learning about cardiac electrophysiology.
