Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer

Ashland Conveyer ProductsAshland, CA

About The Position

We are seeking a motivated Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will independently develop industrial products and equipment from concept through production. This hands-on role owns complex assignments, makes sound technical decisions, supports prototypes and testing, and delivers complete production-ready documentation. Direct conveyor experience is helpful, but it is not required. Lead mechanical design projects from concept through production release. Develop concepts, calculations, prototypes, test equipment, and production-ready designs. Create accurate 3D models, assemblies, drawings, tolerance schemes, and bills of material. Apply engineering judgment to performance, capacity, safety, reliability, cost, manufacturability, and serviceability. Develop test plans, lead validation, document results, and resolve identified risks. Investigate failures, production concerns, and field issues and lead corrective action through completion. Integrate motors, sensors, wiring, controls, guarding, and safety devices with electrical and controls engineering. Work directly with manufacturing, purchasing, quality, suppliers, sales, and customers. Develop modular product platforms, reusable components, standards, and design guidelines. Mentor junior engineers and designers and contribute to formal design reviews. Keep leadership informed of status, risks, decisions, and resource needs. Work closely with sales and manufacturing teams to address complex customer needs, custom configurations, and integration of communication and control modules; actively participate in process improvement. Make technical decisions within assigned project requirements. Recommend product architecture, materials, components, testing, and manufacturing methods. Request design reviews and stop assigned work when safety or technical requirements remain unresolved. Perform other duties as assigned.
