About The Position

The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer at Jabil, Inc. will play a pivotal role in optimizing manufacturing processes, driving continuous improvement, and leading technical projects to ensure efficient production and high-quality output. This role supports a wide range of manufacturing technologies, including precision machining and thermal joining processes, and requires strong technical depth and leadership skills to guide and mentor a team of engineers.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in process development, optimization, and validation (FMEA, SPC, MSA).
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles (certification preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with CNC machining processes, including programming fundamentals, tooling selection, fixturing, GD&T interpretation, and statistical process control.
  • Experience supporting or developing heat treating and brazing processes in a production environment.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes relevant to Jabil’s product lines, including assembly, machining, secondary processing, and automation.
  • Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools.
  • Experience with ERP/MES systems.
  • Proven leadership and mentorship abilities with experience guiding and developing engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in complex manufacturing environments.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
  • 7+ years of progressive manufacturing engineering experience, including exposure to machining and thermal joining or heat treatment processes, with at least 2 years in a senior or leadership role.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement robust manufacturing processes for new and existing products, focusing on lean manufacturing principles, automation, cost reduction, and scalability.
  • Develop and optimize CNC machining processes, including milling, turning, multi-axis machining, and fixturing strategies to improve throughput, yield, and part quality.
  • Define and support heat treating processes (e.g., hardening, tempering, stress relieving) to ensure material performance, dimensional stability, and specification compliance.
  • Support and improve brazing processes (torch, furnace, induction, vacuum, or controlled atmosphere), including joint design, material selection, and process controls.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to a team of manufacturing engineers, fostering professional development and ensuring execution aligns with company objectives.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for machining, heat treatment, and brazing processes, supporting troubleshooting, process improvement, and training efforts.
  • Lead complex manufacturing engineering projects from conception through completion, including planning, resource allocation, budget management, and risk mitigation.
  • Support capital projects involving CNC equipment, furnaces, and brazing systems.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, yield enhancement, defect reduction, and waste elimination using Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Lean methodologies.
  • Drive improvements in machining cycle times, heat treat consistency, and brazed joint quality through data-driven analysis.
  • Evaluate, select, and justify new CNC machines, tooling, fixtures, heat treat furnaces, and brazing equipment, ensuring compatibility with production needs and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on tooling, cutting parameters, furnace profiles, and brazing consumables.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, control plans, PFMEAs, and setup sheets for machining and thermal processes.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for complex manufacturing issues related to machining defects, heat treat distortion, or brazing failures, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Work cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production teams to ensure seamless product introduction and efficient manufacturing operations, particularly for machined and joined components.
  • Ensure all manufacturing processes and equipment, including machining centers, furnaces, and brazing operations, adhere to internal safety policies and external regulatory and industry standards.
