Sr Manager, Technology Strategy
About The Position
PayPal is seeking an energetic and innovative professional to join its Office of the CTO, supporting the broader Technology organization. This highly visible role partners closely with senior executives across the global Technology organization and works alongside a team that directly supports the CTO. The team helps Technology leadership navigate complex priorities, advance strategic initiatives, and make decisions that shape PayPal’s future. The role leads development of PayPal’s Technology strategy across multiple workstreams and owns delivery across a portfolio of strategic projects. It involves personally conducting or leading complex qualitative and quantitative analysis, developing practical solutions to ambiguous enterprise-wide problems, and shaping the organization’s position on long-term strategic issues. The role also includes prototyping enterprise-wide applications and internal tools with AI-assisted coding platforms, advising senior stakeholders, and mentoring junior team members.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems.
- World-class strategic and analytical thinking, with the ability to translate insights into innovative frameworks for senior enterprise stakeholders.
- Leadership experience advising senior and executive stakeholders across complex global organizations and earning trusted-advisor status.
- Ability to own the analytical value-creation process across complex, multi-project portfolios.
- Ability to translate ambiguous, enterprise-wide problems into practical, actionable solutions.
- SVP-level communication and influencing skills, with credibility to set agendas beyond a project’s original scope.
- Track record of delivering tangible results at enterprise scale.
Nice To Haves
- Approximately 8–10 years of experience at a leading strategy consulting firm and/or corporate strategy team, including senior individual-contributor or supervisory scope.
- MBA or quantitative degree from a top school.
- Experience in software development.
- Experience in financial services, particularly payments, and/or e-commerce.
- Demonstrated track record of independently delivering complex analysis end-to-end.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex projects requiring an understanding of current business trends.
- Participate in problem resolution and provide functional expertise.
- Determine methods and procedures for new assignments to drive process improvements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful execution of strategic plans.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of strategic initiatives and make recommendations.
- Lead development of PayPal’s Technology strategy across multiple workstreams.
- Own end-to-end delivery across a portfolio of strategic projects, personally driving process and quality.
- Build and prototype enterprise-wide applications and internal tools using AI-assisted coding platforms.
- Personally conduct or lead complex qualitative and quantitative analysis to zero-defect standards.
- Shape PayPal’s enterprise-wide position on long-term strategic issues for senior Technology leadership.
- Coach and provide professional mentorship and development to junior team members.
