About The Position

J.Crew is seeking a Senior Manager, Site Merchandising to lead the online business for a defined Women’s Apparel category portfolio. This role combines commercial ownership, digital merchandising, and storytelling to create an engaging customer experience and drive profitable growth. The Senior Manager will be responsible for driving sales, margin, and conversion for their assigned categories on the site and app. They will translate the Director’s commercial plan and enterprise priorities into a weekly operating plan, focusing on assortment presentation, discovery, content, promotional planning, and key seasonal moments. This is a hands-on role requiring strong commercial instincts, operating rigor, and daily engagement with site merchandising tools. The Senior Manager will analyze customer insights and performance data to identify opportunities, collaborate with various teams, and implement measurable improvements in revenue, conversion, and customer engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in site merchandising, eCommerce, or a related commercial discipline.
  • Experience leading or mentoring others.
  • Track record supporting or owning an online business or category and delivering measurable sales, margin, and conversion growth.
  • Strong commercial and analytical acumen, with demonstrated ability to read a business, identify opportunities, and make informed trade-offs.
  • Experience executing campaign or seasonal moments end to end, with the project management discipline to deliver on a demanding calendar.
  • Solid understanding of digital merchandising, site content, search and discovery, conversion optimization, and the platforms that enable modern commerce.
  • Ability to translate a commercial plan into a clear weekly operating rhythm and deliver against it with cross-functional partners.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present a clear, data-backed recommendation to your leader and cross-functional partners.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the commercial owner for assigned Women’s Apparel categories on site and app, setting weekly priorities and driving the business against sales, margin, conversion, and engagement targets.
  • Deliver assigned categories’ role in the seasonal campaign calendar, including building and publishing site pages, owning setup and QA, and collaborating with Merchandising, Planning, Marketing, and Creative from brief through launch and post-mortem analysis.
  • Bring the commercial plan to life for customers through navigation, category and collection pages, sort and search, product presentation, and campaign storytelling, ensuring a distinct J.Crew experience.
  • Build customer-led merchandising logic and decision trees to improve product findability and create inspirational moments.
  • Read the business daily and weekly, making site adjustments to product exposure, sort order, presentation, and promotional messaging to chase demand and protect margin.
  • Execute promotions and markdown events accurately and on time with Planning and Merchandising, escalating risks and inventory calls to the Director.
  • Identify friction and opportunity in the shopping journey for assigned categories, writing clear requirements and test briefs for Product and Tech, and running tests and personalization use cases.
  • Own the weekly read for assigned categories, analyzing performance drivers, outlining actions, and identifying what to stop doing.
  • Build reporting and hindsights for the Director’s business reviews, translating site data into decisions that convert traffic.
  • Direct the day-to-day work of one to two site merchandising teammates, reviewing their work and building their commercial instinct.
  • Hold the team to standards for on-time go-live, site accuracy, and QA.
  • Shop the competition in assigned categories, track customer behavior on site, and provide specific, actionable recommendations to the Director.
  • Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for assigned categories across J.Crew, aligning Merchandising, Planning, Finance, Creative, and Product, Tech, and Data Science on site activities and needs.
  • Collaborate with the Site Merchandising team to ensure the site reads as a coherent experience, bringing a clear, data-backed point of view and flagging decisions and trade-offs.
