Sr Manager, Site Merchandising: Women’s Apparel

J.Crew•New York, NY
•$120,800 - $155,400•Hybrid

About The Position

J.Crew’s digital storefront is one of our most important growth engines and the place where millions of customers experience our brand every day. We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Site Merchandising to own the online business for a defined Women’s Apparel category portfolio, bringing together commercial ownership, digital merchandising, and storytelling to create a shopping experience customers love and that delivers profitable growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in site merchandising, eCommerce, or a related commercial discipline, including experience leading or mentoring others.
  • Track record supporting or owning an online business or category and delivering measurable sales, margin, and conversion growth.
  • Strong commercial and analytical acumen, with demonstrated ability to read a business, identify opportunities, and make informed trade-offs.
  • Experience executing campaign or seasonal moments end to end, with the project management discipline to deliver on a demanding calendar.
  • Solid understanding of digital merchandising, site content, search and discovery, conversion optimization, and the platforms that enable modern commerce.
  • Ability to translate a commercial plan into a clear weekly operating rhythm and deliver against it with cross-functional partners.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present a clear, data-backed recommendation to your leader and cross-functional partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with women’s apparel in a multi-brand or specialty retail environment is a plus.
  • We welcome you to apply, even if you don't check all the boxes. Our passion is scouting life-long learners who are driven by curiosity, and who feel connected to our brands and share our desire to make an impact. We’re always seeking bright new talent who leverage their unique experiences to discover, grow and evolve with our teams.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the commercial owner for your categories on site and app. Set weekly priorities, make trade-offs across categories, and drive the business against sales, margin, conversion, and engagement targets.
  • Deliver your categories’ role in the seasonal campaign calendar set by the Director. Build and publish the site pages, own the setup and QA, and work with Merchandising, Planning, Marketing, and Creative from brief through launch, then bring findings back to the post-mortem.
  • Bring the commercial plan to life for customers across navigation, category and collection pages, sort and search, product presentation, and campaign storytelling, in a way that feels distinctly J.Crew. Build customer-led merchandising logic and decision trees that improve product findability, and create moments of inspiration while making it effortless for customers to find what they love.
  • Read the business daily and weekly, and make the site adjustments yourself: product exposure, sort order, presentation, and promotional messaging to chase demand and protect margin. Execute promotions and markdown events accurately and on time with Planning and Merchandising, and escalate risks and bigger inventory calls to the Director.
  • Identify friction and opportunity in the shopping journey for your categories and write clear requirements and test briefs for Product and Tech. Run tests and personalization use cases through to results, and recommend what to scale.
  • Own the weekly read for your categories: what drove the week, what you are doing about it, and what to stop doing. Build the reporting and hindsights that feed the Director’s business reviews, and turn site data into decisions that convert the traffic we already have.
  • Direct the day-to-day work of one to two site merchandising teammates at the manager, associate, or assistant level, reviewing their work and building their commercial instinct. Hold the team to standards for on-time go-live, site accuracy, and QA.
  • Shop the competition in your categories, track how customers are behaving on site, and bring the Director specific, actionable recommendations on what to change.
  • Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for your categories across J.Crew, keeping Merchandising, Planning, Finance, Creative, and Product, Tech, and Data Science aligned on what is happening on site and what is needed next. Work side by side with the Site Merchandising team so the site reads as one coherent experience, bring a clear point of view backed by data, and flag the decisions and trade-offs.
