The Sr. Manager, Quality Assurance is responsible for developing and enhancing quality procedures, ensuring organizational adherence to documented processes, and driving quality readiness for new product launches. This role plays a critical part in maintaining high standards of product quality, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction within an automotive component manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality, or related technical field.
  • Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, and core quality tools.
  • Experience leading supplier quality activities and managing supplier corrective actions.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver employee training.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
  • 10+ years of experience in quality management within automotive manufacturing.
  • Strong analytical and root‑cause problem‑solving ability.
  • Leadership and people-development skills.
  • High attention to detail and process discipline.
  • Ability to influence cross‑functional teams and drive change.
  • Customer‑focused mindset with a passion for quality excellence.

Nice To Haves

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Auditor certifications (IATF, ISO 9001, VDA 6.3).
  • Experience with metal, plastic, or electronic automotive components manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with customer-specific requirements from OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Leadership and support to divisions for quality planning of new product launches, including APQP deliverables, control plans, PFMEAs, and PPAP submissions.
  • Conduct on-site readiness reviews to ensure the manufacturing process meets quality expectations.
  • Work closely with Engineering and Program Management to mitigate risks and ensure quality robustness during product development.
  • Engage with Divisions during quote phase to ensure error proofing strategies are robust
  • Attend, Review and approve quality gates to validate content from quality perspective (DV/PV test results, capacity planning, error proofing strategies, alignments of FMEAs and control plans, free source or directed Tier 2 RASICs)
  • Evolve standardization of FMEAs and control plans by manufacturing process type (molding, paint, etc) or commodity type (Fascia, Running Board, etc) utilizing standard FMEA tools
  • Work closely with Division and Supplier quality to evaluate and mitigate risk for new and/or high-risk suppliers for new program launches.
  • Conduct internal quality training programs focused on procedures, problem-solving, process control, and compliance.
  • Coach employees at all levels to improve understanding of Magna quality systems and standards.
  • Maintain training records and ensure alignment with customers and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure sites maintain continuous improvement plans related to internal / external quality KPIs
  • Assess divisions to ensure the Magna quality standard (MQS) is being adhered to; coach, educate, & train as required.
  • Ensure documentation complies with automotive standards including IATF 16949 and OEM-specific requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure processes reflect current best practices and actual shop-floor execution.
  • Monitor compliance with established procedures through internal audits, layered process audits (LPAs), and shop-floor observations.
  • Provide Leadership and support to divisions on root‑cause analysis and corrective actions to address gaps or deviations.
  • Support internal and external audits, including customer and third‑party assessments.
  • Provide management support where needed to help mitigate risk and maintain customer satisfaction
