About The Position

Amazon's Operations Engineering Networking (ONE) org is looking for a Senior Network Development Manager to lead the team building a unified network architecture that powers everything from neighborhood grocery stores to the most advanced robotics fulfillment centers on the planet. You'll own the Core Networking organization and the engineers enabling Amazon's next generation of robotics, autonomous delivery, and fulfillment innovation — designing the network infrastructure these technologies rely on to operate at global scale. This is a rare opportunity to build from the ground up. We're creating a single, flexible network platform — vendor-agnostic, cost-optimized, and built on open standards with Amazon's own network operating system — that gives Amazon the freedom to deploy any technology, in any building, in any country, on our terms. You'll lead the team that makes that real. ONE powers Amazon's Operations and Grocery businesses through a global network infrastructure that enables mission-critical connectivity for fulfillment, robotics, and last-mile delivery. As the Senior NDM for Core Networking, you will own the design, development, and operational excellence of the LAN infrastructure that connects every device in every Amazon fulfillment center to the network.

Requirements

  • A leader of leaders who builds self-sustaining teams. Your teams are better for your presence but don’t need you to be successful.
  • Deep understanding of data center and campus network architecture — Layer 2/3 design, EVPN/VXLAN, BGP, OSPF, network security, and traffic engineering
  • Experience managing 30+ engineers across multiple sub-teams, including remote and international teams
  • Track record of driving large-scale network transformations — stack migrations, vendor diversification, or architecture consolidation
  • Strong technical judgment to evaluate designs, challenge proposals, and make resource-vs-risk-vs-sustainability tradeoffs with future architecture in mind
  • Ability to write effective narratives (PR/FAQ, six-pager) and present to VP-level leadership
  • Experience with OP planning, roadmap development, and managing large program entitlements
  • Bias for automation and operational excellence — you measure everything and you don’t accept manual processes that should be automated
  • 10+ years of network, system, or software architecture experience
  • 5+ years of engineering team management experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: data center or network capacity planning, data center or network infrastructure program/project management, or related technical fields

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or above in an advanced technical program
  • Experience with open networking or commodity switch platforms
  • Experience with network automation frameworks (Ansible, Python, CI/CD for network infrastructure)
  • Experience managing vendor relationships (Juniper, Cisco, Arista, or ODM/OEM partners)
  • Experience with AWS networking services (VPC, Transit Gateway, Network Firewall, Direct Connect)

Responsibilities

  • A multi-team engineering organization spanning Core Network Engineering, Software Defined Network Infrastructure, Core Deployment, and Amazon Robotic Workcells
  • A unified network architecture optimized for cost, performance, availability and scale
  • Amazon's in-house network operating system built on commodity hardware, reducing vendor dependency and total cost of ownership
  • Security modernization — migrating sites from on-premise hardware firewalls to AWS Network Firewalls, eliminating operational downtime risk and enabling horizontal scaling
  • Hardware qualification and lifecycle — certifying next-generation switch platforms as replacements for end-of-support hardware
  • Operational excellence for LAN infrastructure — configuration compliance, firmware management, and self-healing automation

Benefits

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage
  • Maternity and Parental Leave Options
  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • 401(k) Plan
  • sign-on payments
  • restricted stock units (RSUs)
  • health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage)
  • 401(k) matching
  • paid time off
  • parental leave
