About The Position

The Operational Engineering role within MTO is an experienced, hands‑on technical contributor supporting and scaling manufacturing processes across Alcon’s global network. The role applies manufacturing science, process engineering, and technology transfer expertise across process development, validation, troubleshooting, optimization, and lifecycle support. Engineers at this level operate flexibly across diverse manufacturing environments, collaborating with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and R&D partners to assess risk and deliver practical, compliant solutions. Strong direct manufacturing experience is required to support sound technical decisions that balance quality, regulatory, process, and operational needs. This role will initially lead global initiatives based in Fort Worth, with an expected transition over time into a key site leadership role within Alcon’s manufacturing network.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school+15 yrs; Assoc.+11 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+3 yrs)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • 7 Years of Relevant Experience

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and resolve complex issues related to manufacturing, design, quality, and materials engineering
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate new production materials, equipment, and technologies
  • Conduct manufacturing research and development to solve problems related to production cost and quality, and perform technical feasibility tests to ensure production efficiency
  • Select and communicate with vendors to determine product specifications and ensure timely, budget-compliant delivery
  • Harmonize and standardize processes, material selection, design changes, and supplier management to create savings
  • Develop and implement standard manufacturing procedures and evaluate production processes to reduce overall costs and determine product quality standards
  • Engage with partner functions such as research and development, commercial, and quality
  • Establish standardized procedures, operator training programs, and equipment maintenance schedules to minimize human error and equipment-related failures.
  • Lead multiple engineering projects and manage stakeholders cross-functionally
  • Make operational decisions that impact performance, project priorities, and resource allocation
  • Manage project and operational budgets, including oversight of contractors and external partners
  • Build strong relationships across the organization to align engineering work with business needs
  • Manage projects, allocate resources, and guide execution to meet timelines and objectives
