Sr Manager IT Quality Assurance

Valvoline Global
Hybrid

About The Position

Valvoline Global Operations is seeking an IT Senior Manager, CI/CD Engineering & DevOps to own and evolve their enterprise continuous integration, continuous delivery, and automated quality engineering capabilities. This role will drive the modernization of delivery pipelines across SAP S/4HANA, Salesforce, Databricks, and custom application platforms, replacing manual QA and change management with automated quality gates, continuous testing, and intelligent release governance. Reporting to the Director Strategy, this position acts as the enterprise authority for CI/CD pipeline standards, automated regression frameworks, code quality enforcement, change risk assessments, cutover execution, and production failover readiness. It is a key leadership role in VGO's transformation into a modern, global software delivery organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (prefer Software Engineering, Information Systems, business or related field).
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in software delivery, DevOps engineering, or release management.
  • 5+ years managing enterprise-scale CI/CD pipelines in a heterogeneous technology environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with automated testing at enterprise scale (functional, regression, integration, performance).
  • Experience supporting large ERP platform delivery (SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA strongly preferred).
  • Proven track record leading production cutover, failover validation, and hypercare operations for major releases.
  • Expert-level proficiency with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or equivalent modern pipeline orchestration tools.
  • Strong knowledge of pipeline-as-code (Jenkinsfile, YAML workflows), artifact management (Nexus, JFrog), and environment promotion patterns.
  • Experience with GitOps principles, branching strategies (trunk-based, GitFlow), and PR governance controls.
  • Deep expertise in enterprise automated testing frameworks: Selenium, Playwright, Tosca, REST Assured, OpenText UFT One.
  • Experience defining and governing test coverage standards, regression suite architecture, and shift-left testing practices.
  • Performance and load testing experience (OpenText LoadRunner, k6, JMeter) including production simulation and NFR validation.
  • Hands-on experience with SonarQube, CodeQL, GitHub Advanced Security, and ABAP Code Inspector.
  • Ability to define and enforce quality gates, branch protection rules, and peer review SLA standards within GitHub Enterprise.
  • Strong change risk assessment and ITSM alignment experience (ServiceNow ITSM or equivalent).
  • Experience participating in or leading Architecture Review Board (ARB) governance processes for delivery changes.
  • Familiarity with SOX change control requirements and audit-ready release documentation.
  • Proven experience leading enterprise cutover command operations, including runbook creation, dry-run execution, and go-live decision authority.
  • Knowledge of failover patterns, BCP/DR for CI/CD toolchains, blue-green and canary deployment strategies.
  • Experience defining RTO/RPO targets and validating rollback procedures for production environments.
  • Exceptional stakeholder communication skills — able to translate pipeline metrics and delivery risk into executive-level language.
  • Experience with dev ops KPI metrics (deployment frequency, change failure rate, MTTR, lead time).
  • Strong coaching mindset with a track record of building and upskilling DevOps engineering teams at enterprise scale.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or equivalent practical experience in DevOps, software delivery engineering, or enterprise architecture.
  • Experience with SAP-specific CI/CD toolchains (SAP Cloud Transport Management (cALM or Solution Manager), ABAP Development Tools, SAP BTP CI/CD Service).
  • Salesforce DevOps Center, Copado, or Gearset experience for Salesforce delivery pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience in regulated or SOX-controlled environments.
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Google Cloud DevOps certification or related certifications.
  • DevOps Fundamentals, or equivalent Agile/DevOps certification.
  • ISTQB Advanced Level – Test Automation Engineer.
  • ITIL 4 Foundation (for change and release process alignment).

Responsibilities

  • Own the enterprise CI/CD pipeline strategy, architecture, and execution across all VGO platforms, driving adoption of modern pipeline tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, cALM, SAP Solution Manager, Azure DevOps, ArgoCD).
  • Enforce pipeline-as-code standards, branch strategy governance, and automated build, test, and deploy processes across SAP BTP, Salesforce, Databricks, and custom application stacks.
  • Lead the shift-left engineering culture, embedding quality and security at every pipeline stage.
  • Define and govern the enterprise automated testing strategy, including functional, integration, regression, performance, and security test automation.
  • Eliminate manual regression cycles with repeatable, pipeline-integrated test suites, establishing code coverage thresholds, regression gates, and test-data management standards.
  • Oversee toolchain selection and governance (Selenium, Playwright, Tosca, UFT One, OpenText ALM, REST Assured) for SAP S/4HANA, Salesforce, and API integration, including security penetration and performance testing (Loadrunner).
  • Establish and enforce enterprise code quality standards and automated code review practices using static analysis tooling (SonarQube, CodeQL, ESLint, ABAP Code Inspector).
  • Govern pull request workflows, peer review SLAs, and automated gate enforcement within GitHub Enterprise, aligning code quality checks with architecture requirements and clean core compliance.
  • Partner with the EA team on ARB reviews for major changes requiring architecture sign-off.
  • Serve as the DevOps and Release lead in the Architecture Review Board (ARB) process, assessing delivery readiness, pipeline compliance, and change risk.
  • Own the change advisory function: risk-score changes, enforce change windows, govern emergency change procedures, and maintain auditability.
  • Ensure release governance aligns with SOX controls, PDPL obligations, and VGO security standards.
  • Lead go/no-go decision authority for major releases.
  • Lead enterprise cutover planning, execution, and cutover command operations for major releases, including SAP S/4HANA Project Phoenix wave go-lives.
  • Own the cutover runbook library and rehearsal cadence.
  • Define and validate failover and rollback procedures for all production environments.
  • Ensure BCP/DR alignment for production pipelines, including RTO/RPO targets for CI/CD toolchain failures.
  • Partner with infrastructure and platform engineering on environment stability, blue-green and canary deployment patterns, and post-release hypercare.
  • Lead and develop a global DevOps engineering team, including release engineers, automation engineers, QA leads, and pipeline specialists.
  • Build a culture of engineering excellence, blameless post-mortems, and continuous improvement (DORA metrics-driven).
  • Define career development paths and upskilling programs aligned to modern DevOps toolchains and practices.
  • Drive VGO-wide adoption of DevOps maturity assessment frameworks and report pipeline health and delivery velocity to senior IT and business leadership.
