About The Position

The Sr Manager II, EHS Strategic Projects leads strategic environmental, health, and safety work across Coherent, with particular priority given to high-hazard facilities. The role integrates EHS principles into design, research and development, process development, production, and construction, and directs hazard studies, risk assessments, crisis preparedness, employee health initiatives, and technical EHS projects. It also provides technical guidance to sites and cross-functional teams, supports regulatory compliance, manages consultants, and indirectly manages EHS employees working on Technical Office projects. The position combines office work with time in an industrial manufacturing environment, both indoors and occasionally outdoors. Typical hours are daylight, Monday through Friday, with meetings and other activities outside normal hours several times a month. The role requires average travel of 20%, with a maximum of 50%, and availability for emergency call-ins. Although primarily an office role, it can involve occasional physically demanding work, including standing for up to eight hours, lifting up to 50 pounds, and pushing, pulling, and handling 55-gallon chemical drums. Required protective equipment may include respirators, eye and face protection, and chemical-resistant clothing and gloves. The position requires adherence to Coherent’s site EHS procedures and Corporate EHS standards, attendance at scheduled training, and support for applicable quality and environmental management system standards, which may include ISO 9000, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 depending on location. The role is expected to uphold Coherent’s ICARE values: Integrity, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Enthusiasm.
