About The Position

This position is responsible for the overall design, implementation, management and communication of policies, procedures and practices for talent management programs including Employment Relations. The incumbent ensures Human Resource policies and procedures are in compliance with federal, state and local laws. Works within assigned functional areas to provide employee resources expertise to that organization(s) in all aspects of the employee resources function. Oversees other HR Staff on a project basis.

  • Requires comprehensive knowledge of the HR function, with the ability to set strategic plans and a complete understanding of all the outside forces that could affect it, and the overall ramifications
  • Strong interpersonal and consultative skills; ability to work in concert with others to accomplish objectives and goals; ability to build solid working relationships across divisions/functions; ability to gain agreement on issues and next steps from diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of all applicable laws and regulations as well as the fundamentals of associate relations is required.
  • The ability to travel is required. (Approximately 5-10%)
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate complex concepts and processes in an easy to understand manner to a heterogeneous audience.
  • Self-initiative; ability to take charge, put order to chaos, and drive initiatives through to completion
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources/Management or the equivalent plus a minimum of five (5) years with progressively more responsible talent management (Including employee relations) experience, including some management experience (international is a plus) OR a combination of training and experience that indicates the ability to do the job.
  • Prior managerial experience required.
  • Should possess the ability to adapt to a cross-cultural environment.

Responsibilities

  • Administers various human resources plans and procedures for all Company personnel; assists in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that managers are fair, consistent, and equitable in their treatment of employees. Provides support to managers and employees in communicating company policy, procedure and programs to ensure productive, quality results and positive morale.
  • Responsible for all ER related issues of Mitsui USA. Conducts employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing with the collaboration of other HR staff.
  • Acts as a mediator, counselor, and facilitator in arbitrating disputes between employees and their supervisors and managers. Uses care and judgment to ensure fairness and equity throughout the counseling process.
  • Responsible for the creation and compliance for employment policies and procedures under the direction of management.
  • Responsible for planning, coordination and administration of training and development programs for Mitsui Americas. Conduct Analysis of training and development needs, and to design new training and development program for Mitsui USA and Mitsui Americas.
  • Responsible for employee immigration issues (Including secondments) of NS (Non-headquarter hired staff). Consults with outside counsel to obtain and renew visa documents.
  • Assists the operation of Mitsui Americas performance appraisal program, including the administration of the electronic program (Success Factors). Work with managers and employees on performance appraisal issues and concerns.
  • Manages various programs and reports as assigned by management, including Global Talent Database and Headcount Reports.
  • Assists and participates in miscellaneous projects as assigned by General Manager and senior management.
