In this vital role you, as a key member of the Global Policy, Training and Systems team within Worldwide Compliance & Business Ethics (WC&BE), this individual leads the strategy, governance, development, and lifecycle management of Amgen’s Global Corporate Compliance Policies, U.S. BlueBook, U.S. Healthcare Compliance SOPs, and related compliance resource documents. This role ensures alignment and consistency across global and U.S. compliance policies and serves as the primary bridge between policy content and enterprise compliance training, including the Global Code of Conduct and U.S. Healthcare Compliance training programs. The Senior Manager drives simplification, modernization, and effective governance of policy content to ensure clarity, usability, and regulatory defensibility. This role is accountable for defining and driving the strategy for technology and AI enabled compliance content capabilities, transforming how policies and related materials are created, maintained, and experienced across the organization.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree & 2 years of compliance, legal, or policy experience OR Master’s degree & 4 years of compliance, legal, or policy experience OR Bachelor’s degree & 6 years of compliance, legal, or policy experience OR Associate degree & 10 years of compliance, legal, or policy experience OR High school diploma/GED & 12 years of compliance, legal, or policy experience
  • Significant experience drafting and managing corporate compliance policies within a regulated industry.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. healthcare compliance requirements, federal and state enforcement trends, and pharmaceutical/biotech regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience aligning policy content with training programs and learning strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to simplify complex regulatory concepts into clear, practical guidance.
  • Experience operating within document management systems and governance workflows.
  • Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple high-impact initiatives simultaneously.
  • Executive presence and ability to influence across Legal, Compliance, and business leadership.
  • High attention to detail balanced with strategic thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end lifecycle management of Global Corporate Compliance Policies, U.S. BlueBook, and designated U.S. compliance SOPs.
  • Establish and maintain a scalable policy governance framework, including review cycles, version control, documentation standards, and approval workflows.
  • Partner with Legal, Healthcare Compliance, ABAC, Privacy, Trade Compliance, Finance, HR, and regional compliance teams to ensure policies reflect evolving regulatory requirements and enforcement trends.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, streamline, and modernize policy architecture to improve clarity and usability across the organization.
  • Leverage technology solutions, including AI supported tools, to enhance policy drafting, review efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
  • Ensure alignment between global standards and U.S.-specific requirements while maintaining clear delineation where appropriate.
  • Serve as content authority for compliance policies embedded in: Global Code of Conduct, U.S. Healthcare Compliance training, Targeted risk-based training modules.
  • Ensure all training content accurately reflects current policy requirements and updates.
  • Collaborate with the Global Training Lead to proactively incorporate policy changes into training strategy and deployment.
  • Partner with WC&BE Communications to ensure clear rollout and reinforcement of new or updated policies.
  • Explore and implement digital and AI enabled approaches to connect policy content more dynamically to training and employee experience.
  • Monitor regulatory developments, enforcement trends, and industry benchmarks to proactively identify required policy updates.
  • Ensure policy language is clear, defensible, and aligned with applicable laws and industry codes.
  • Utilize data and technology enabled insights to identify content gaps, inconsistencies, and areas of elevated risk.
  • Support internal audits, monitoring activities, and regulatory inquiries related to policy documentation and training alignment.
  • Identify gaps or inconsistencies across policies, SOPs, and resource materials and drive remediation.
  • Partner with compliance systems and document management teams (e.g., CDOCS or successor platforms) to optimize document control and accessibility.
  • Drive adoption of advanced capabilities, including AI enabled search, content generation, and workflow automation, to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Improve workflow efficiency for policy review, approval, publication, and training integration.
  • Track and report on policy lifecycle metrics, including review completion, update cycles, and alignment with training milestones.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to WC&BE leadership on policy risk areas and content priorities, and opportunities to modernize through technology.
  • Lead cross-functional working groups related to policy revisions.
  • Mentor and guide team members and associates supporting policy and training activities.
