About The Position

Tris Pharma, Inc. is a leading privately-owned and fully-integrated biopharmaceutical company in the U.S. focused on developing and commercializing innovative medicines for unmet patient needs. They are a CNS-focused company with marketed products and a pipeline for disorders in psychiatry, pain, and neurology. The company holds over 150 US and International patents and applications and has a global presence through partners. The Senior Manager, Business Development position is located at their Monmouth Junction, NJ facility. This role involves evaluating acquisition, in-licensing, and out-licensing opportunities, making recommendations, and playing a significant role in both buy-side and sell-side projects. Key responsibilities include identifying opportunities, evaluating them from strategic, commercial, scientific, and financial perspectives, and executing deals through due diligence and negotiation. The role requires interaction with and presentation to internal and external executives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business or scientific discipline (MBA, MD or graduate degree in life sciences PREFERRED)
  • Minimum 2 years business development experience in a pharmaceutical company OR comparable experience within an investment bank, venture capital fund or consulting firm.
  • Ability to explain complex concepts and synthesize recommendations to an executive-level audience.
  • Strong analytical skills, proficiency with financial modeling and demonstrated understanding of fundamental corporate finance and accounting topics.
  • Exceptional intellectual curiosity and a desire to work closely with cross-functional team members and be a thought partner across functions.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmaceutical market and experience with opportunity assessment, product development and life-cycle management strategies.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office software, especially Excel.
  • Ability and willingness to travel overnight/internationally, as required.

Responsibilities

  • Significantly contribute to the evaluation and execution of in-license/M&A opportunities: identify and screen opportunities, analyze market and competitive landscape, assess financial and overall potential, determine strategic fit, evaluate alternatives, manage due diligence process, and synthesize and present findings/recommendations to senior management.
  • Lead critical aspects of out-licensing and capital raising processes: support storyline development, lead outreach and build relationships with prospective partners, manage due diligence process, and heavily support deal structuring and negotiation.
  • Prepare and present robust financial models to assess opportunities under evaluation; provide input on deal terms and creation of relevant clinical, regulatory, and commercial scenarios.
  • Prepare clear and concise presentations across a range of BD projects to senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate and partner with a range of internal functions to support business development and other strategic initiatives, including Research, Product Development, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, CMC, New Products, Sales & Marketing, and Legal.
  • Maintain and develop expertise in the use of the relevant data sources used by business development.
