About The Position

The Senior Manager of Business Development Factory Sales will work across business development, engineering, and manufacturing. The primary focus of the role is identifying and moving on new opportunities that expand where and how Virco’s capabilities can be applied. This role serves as a bridge between business development / sales and engineering, taking ideas from the market and turning them into practical, manufacturable solutions that can be scaled. This person will work closely with existing Factory Sales efforts and Business Development teams to evaluate and shape opportunities across Public Sector, Health Services, Field Services, and Digital Public Procurement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (including mechanical, industrial, civil, biological, or similar discipline) or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.
  • 8 to 12+ years of relevant experience in engineering and/or manufacturing
  • Strong technical understanding of engineering concepts
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives
  • Strong project management capability with the ability to manage multiple initiatives, prioritize, and drive progress
  • Ability to engage external stakeholders and build credibility in technical and operational discussions
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous early-stage / build mode environments
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency in basic mathematics, and strong analytical capabilities.
  • Proficient in systems and appropriate applications and have knowledge and proficient use of applicable office-related equipment.
  • Excellent team skills, be flexible, and be able to meet and maintain performance standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Factory Sales Team and Business Development Teams to identify and evaluate new market opportunities (Public Sector, Health Services, Field Services, Digital Public Procurement).
  • Identify and develop relationships with key external partners.
  • Translate customer and market needs into practical and manufacturable solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the company to ensure strategic alignment, execution, and promote growth opportunities.
  • Support development of scalable offerings and go-to-market structure.
  • Lead and coordinate early-stage projects from concept through production.
  • Identify and mitigate risks tied to cost, manufacturing, scheduling, and existing production.
  • Participate in early-stage engagement with customers and strategic partners.
  • Support operations and production work.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
