About The Position

Responsible for maintaining Goggin Ice Center facilities and equipment by performing complex operations in a specialized field. This role involves general maintenance and repairs on facility components and systems, operating and maintaining ice surfaces, repairing skates, monitoring facility activities to ensure smooth operations and system functionality, identifying and correcting problems, and ensuring compliance with all pertinent University, local, and state rules and regulations. The position also assists with the operation of the ice plant system.

Requirements

Requires nine months of technical training beyond high school and three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Requires driver’s license.
Ability to complete on-going Certified Ice Technician training.
Knowledge of unit operations
Mechanical skills
Knowledge of computer and unit applications
Supervisory skills

Responsibilities

Performs general maintenance repairs on facility components and systems.
Operate and maintain ice surfaces using ice resurfacer and other related equipment.
Repair and sharpen skates.
Monitors activities of the facility to ensure the smooth flow of operations and that all systems are fully functional.
Identifies and corrects problems in equipment or procedures.
Ensures the facility is in compliance with all pertinent University, local, and state rules and regulations.
Assist with operation of ice plant system
Maintains inventory of materials and supplies; orders as necessary.
Oversee receiving of materials and supplies.
Oversee student staff, establishes work schedules and assigns tasks.
Monitors and reviews performance; ensures that any necessary corrections or changes are made.
