About The Position

Join Insulet’s innovative Acton, MA team and lead a critical maintenance organization that supports the production of life-changing diabetes technology. This high-impact leadership role oversees a team of Maintenance Managers, drives equipment reliability, champions safety and quality, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement in a fast-paced, highly automated manufacturing environment. The Senior Manager Maintenance Operations will lead a team of 4 Maintenance Managers, ensure their daily activities support business objectives, comply with cGMP requirements, and manage their performance/development. The Senior Manager Maintenance Operations must put the safety of our people and patients first, be focused on quality, self-directed, a motivated team player, and a willing trainer—eager to gain and share new knowledge. The normal schedule for this role is Monday through Friday but the plant is a 24/7 operation and will require flexibility to maintain standards across all shifts. The Acton, MA site is the global business and product development site with all commercial and business functions co-located with all technical disciplines. Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10 Years of experience with maintenance, repair, and setup of complex electro-mechanical assembly equipment.
  • 5 Years of experience supervising or leading maintenance, repair, and improvement activities in a high-volume production environment.
  • 2 Years of machine shop experience

Nice To Haves

  • Engineering Technician Diploma or Associates Degree.
  • BS in an engineering discipline a plus.
  • Proficient in computer skills, MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems, Maximo preferred.
  • Requires mechanical aptitude, technical ability, and problem solving skills, ability to read and understand technical drawings and manuals.
  • Technical knowledge of cam driven linkages, discrete component assembly, and automation.
  • Familiarity with HMIs / GUIs (Machine user interfaces).
  • Previous experience working in a clean room environment.
  • Hands-on technical ability with assembly methodologies including locational methods, setup at assembly, pneumatic actuators, servo motors, limit switches, sensors, robotics, etc.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry; Consumer products or Life Sciences preferred.
  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and rigorous process discipline.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes in daily work plans and unplanned issues on equipment, maintaining a focus on productivity without compromising safety or quality.
  • Thirst for knowledge and intense curiosity.
  • Sound decision making using data.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with safety rules, quality policies, and employee guidelines
  • Formally evaluates performance of team members and champions professional development of team. Manage attendance as part of team performance and coverage for absence/vacation requests
  • Build the capability of the Maintenance Managers with the manufacturing equipment and establish daily work standards to maintain equipment reliability
  • Use Lean principles and tools to drive a continuous improvement culture to improve safety, quality, efficiency and cost
  • Direct interaction with the manufacturing equipment including station set-up and troubleshooting using hand tools, measurement tools, machine documents, specialty gages, and high speed filming equipment
  • Manage the engineering machine shop, train members of the plant engineering team on how to use the equipment safely to support operations, maintain all machine shop tools and equipment.
  • Develop training plans and material, create preventive maintenance tasks and work plans, write SOPs, and verify activities are performed as specified in documented work instructions.
  • Lead root-cause investigations, deploy corrective actions and develop preventive actions to eliminate recurrence.
  • Thoroughly document improvement activity using the maintenance database, adequately communicate maintenance issues to appropriate people (e.g., engineering manager, maintenance planner, engineering, etc.)
  • Responsible to report safety, quality, and regulatory compliance concerns to leadership.
  • Perform other duties as required.
