About The Position

The Toro Company is seeking a Sr. Lean Manager to lead and influence the development and implementation of consistent Lean business practices across multiple operations sites, functions, and businesses. This role aims to drive increased growth, operational excellence, and employee empowerment. The Sr. Lean Manager will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of transformation plans, creating Lean training programs, coaching on Lean principles and tools, leading kaizen events, facilitating knowledge sharing, and mentoring future Lean practitioners. This position supports multiple manufacturing sites, distribution centers, and functional teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS)
  • 10+ years of Lean / Continuous Improvement Experience
  • Experience in Manufacturing and/or Distribution environments
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean tools: Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Standard Work, Kaizen, Visual Management, Root Cause Analysis, TPM, Changeover reduction
  • Proven deployment and sustainment of Lean systems
  • Demonstrated leadership experience driving transformation
  • Project / Program Management skills
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication (written + verbal)
  • Travel up to 30% (domestic & international)

Responsibilities

  • Define, develop, and deploy consistent Lean business practices in support of The Toro Company Business System (TBS).
  • Promote and guide teams in the transformational change of TBS implementation, including Strategy Deployment, Visual Management, and Daily Management.
  • Utilize various process improvement tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, 5S, Standard Work, Cell Design, Continuous Flow, Plan for Every Part, Changeover reduction, TPM, and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Collaborate with leadership teams to develop long-range strategic plans and annual plans for continuous improvement, focusing on safety, quality, delivery, cost, cash, employee engagement, and growth.
  • Establish and evolve operating principles, communication, knowledge sharing, and reporting strategies for continuous improvement/Lean efforts.
  • Lead the TBS maturity assessment process, deployment, and evolution, coordinating gap closure plans with leadership, the Corporate Lean Enterprise team, and external practitioners.
  • Develop and deploy training on Lean principles, concepts, behaviors, and methods to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Implement training plans to cascade Lean principles throughout the organization, involving all employees in the Lean process.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to other Lean and Continuous Improvement practitioners.
  • Provide project management and project leadership for prioritized, complex, cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate regularly to leadership teams on Lean Enterprise initiatives, continuous improvement projects, kaizen status, and customer needs.
  • Actively participate as a member of the Corporate Lean Enterprise Team to support TBS, share best practices, report progress, and support other Lean Managers.
  • Stay current with technologies and Lean concepts through continuing education and benchmarking.
