About The Position

Reporting to the VP Investor Relations and Investment Partnerships, the Sr. Lead Investment Partnerships will play a foundational role in establishing and maintaining relationships to fund Capital Power’s long-term growth both organically and inorganically. This individual will lead commercial negotiations, support capital formation, manage reporting obligations to JV partners, and oversee the commercial performance of jointly owned assets or opportunities. This position requires a strong blend of commercial structuring expertise, relationship management capability, financial acumen, and the ability to represent the business to sophisticated investment partners.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in commercial development, business development and / or corporate development etc.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating commercial agreements, raising capital, or managing investor/JV relationships.
  • Knowledge of power markets, generation, marketing, regulatory frameworks, transmission, and PPAs.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree or professional designation (MBA, CFA, CPA) considered a strong asset.
  • Experience in private equity, project finance, or infrastructure / energy transactions would also be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or support negotiation of joint venture commercial agreements, including, governance structures, reporting obligations, and commercial operating terms.
  • Ensure alignment between JV commercial terms and internal financial, strategy, risk frameworks and other policies.
  • Build and maintain strong, ongoing relationships with external capital providers and JV partners.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for JV partners, ensuring transparent communication and timely reporting.
  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of monthly/quarterly operating reports, budgets, variance analyses, and strategic updates.
  • Coordinate decision requests requiring partner approval (e.g., capex, budgets, material commercial decisions).
  • Monitor the commercial performance of jointly held assets, ensuring alignment with JV agreements, business cases, and partner expectations.
  • Review performance metrics, commercial risks, and financial outcomes.
  • Support the development of budgets and long-term planning inputs, aligned to internal processes referenced in corporate development responsibilities.
