About The Position

HOK's New York office is seeking a Senior Landscape Architect to join their growing Planning practice. This individual will participate in all phases of large-scale projects for a variety of clients, and must be capable of selling and delivering a range of services in a variety of client situations. The application must include both a resume and portfolio (or portfolio link).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture or architecture plus 13 years’ experience; or equivalent in appropriate education and experience required.
  • Master’s degree in landscape architecture may also be required.
  • Registration with current license required.
  • LEED credential required within 12 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and manages planning projects, guides internal teams and consultants towards firmwide design excellence and problem solving.
  • Designs and manages landscape architecture projects.
  • Responsible for the design quality of work.
  • Develops solutions to design problems.
  • Originates and develops creative design concepts and the design documents during the design development phase.
  • Demonstrates creative thinking abilities and contributes to Firmwide design excellence and problem solving.
  • Follows a holistic and integrated approach to design focusing on creating high performing sustainable solutions.
  • Responsible for conceptual design excellence; initiates project design and idea discussions.
  • Responsible for promoting and maintaining HOK’s design reputation.
  • Effectively listens and responds to client goals and offers excellent solutions and service.
  • Maintains strong communication and relations with other HOK practices and resources.
  • Continually contributes to the upgrade of the design process, working collaboratively with designers from other disciplines.
  • Designs, develops, modifies and reviews drawings for landscape architecture projects.
  • Demonstrates reliable understanding of the relationship between design and constructability.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals; participates in interviews and public presentations.
  • Participates in marketing and business development opportunities.
  • Identifies new business opportunities while developing current client relationships.
  • Oversees design team or less experienced designers to ensure design intent.
  • Mentors and directs the work of less experienced staff and may participate in professional development reviews.
  • Participates in interviews and the recruiting of professional staff.
  • Proactively engages staff and provides opportunities for development.
  • Actively promotes collaborative and innovative culture.
  • Fosters a commitment to external and internal client service.
