About The Position

TekWissen is recruiting a Sr Java Backend Developer for a 13-month temporary assignment in New York City, NY. The client is a global professional services firm specializing in digital transformation, business process management, analytics, and AI-driven solutions. The role is onsite and involves developing enterprise server-side applications and delivering stable, robust, and scalable technical solutions aligned with business needs and platform strategies. The developer will collaborate with globally located Product Owners, Business Analysts, and IT partners, contribute to project planning and Agile ceremonies, and keep up with development practices, tools, and testing strategies.

Requirements

• Experience primarily building enterprise server-side applications using J2EE technologies.
• Excellent Core Java, Spring, and Hibernate programming skills.
• Excellent design skills, including design patterns.
• Hands-on experience with Java/JEE, Spring, ORM/Hibernate, XML, XPath, XSLT, RESTful web services, and web servers; Apache Tomcat is preferred.
• Experience with JUnit and a profiling tool such as JProfiler or JProbe.
• Proficiency writing SQL queries for databases; Sybase or DB2 is preferred.
• Expertise working with XML, XSLT, SOAP, and JSON formats.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and planning skills.
• Working experience with Agile development methodologies and DevOps integration.
• Exposure to JIRA or other ALM tools.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Exposure to or working experience using AI tools and models.
• Minimum BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

• Strong foundation or working knowledge of UI technologies such as Angular, JavaScript, or React.
• Proficiency in Test Driven Development.
• Knowledge of financial markets, banking products, and wealth management.
• Knowledge of Unix or Linux development.
• Apache Tomcat experience.
• Experience with Sybase or DB2 databases.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and global IT partners on a day-to-day basis to support smooth project delivery.
• Follow and help ensure that system architecture and integration design standards align with broader platform strategies and business goals.
• Provide robust, scalable, and stable technical solutions based on business needs.
• Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate project requirements.
• Develop code hands-on and provide test coverage according to project delivery needs.
• Participate in sprint grooming and planning, daily stand-ups, and other Agile ceremonies.
• Stay current with development best practices, approaches, tools, and test coverage strategies.
