About The Position

Hertz is seeking a senior backend developer to help modernize its technology stack and build customer-focused products. The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining applications capable of handling high volume and low latency, and contributing throughout the software development lifecycle. The developer will analyze requirements, define business objectives, design and build software, test and debug code, resolve technical issues, document designs, propose infrastructure changes, and support ongoing technical improvement and architectural review.

Requirements

• Four-year degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 7 years of overall engineering experience.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages and common data structures and algorithms.
• Ability to design systems of large complexity.
• Ability to act as a tech lead for projects end-to-end.
• Experience developing on cloud platforms using native cloud technologies and building cloud-agnostic technologies.
• Knowledge of modern development practices, such as test-driven development and clean code.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners to gather requirements and explain outcomes.
• Strong product sense to align work with business objectives and make appropriate tradeoffs.
• Learning mentality, ability to pick up new skills as needed, and curiosity about new technologies.
