About The Position

The 12th Judicial District Attorney’s Office is seeking a New Mexico Certified Peace Officer with experience to provide advanced investigative functions required by a District Attorney’s Office. This position is based out of our Alamogordo Office and serves Lincoln and Otero Counties.

Requirements

  • New Mexico Certified Peace Officer
  • Advanced knowledge of criminal law, procedures, tactics and equipment
  • Advanced knowledge of surveillance techniques
  • Advanced knowledge of interview and interrogation skills
  • Advanced knowledge of investigatory skills
  • Advanced knowledge of supervisory and management skills
  • Advanced writing skills
  • Advanced communication skills
  • Ability to conduct effective training
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other law enforcement agencies and other criminal justice system participants
  • Ability to interact effectively with the public
  • Ability to follow directions and policies of the District Attorney’s Office
  • Ability to use the District Attorney’s Case Management system
  • Ability to use NCIC if so certified
  • Associates degree in criminology, criminal justice, police science or a related field, plus 1 year work experience; or three (3) years’ work experience in related field, plus New Mexico Peace Officer Certification at the discretion of the District Attorney.

Nice To Haves

  • New Mexico Peace Officer Certification, plus four (4) years’ work experience, education and/or training in law enforcement; investigations or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Locate witnesses
  • Serve subpoenas and other process documents
  • Execute warrants
  • Interview witnesses
  • Research investigative leads
  • Provide logistical assistance with witnesses and evidence
  • Testify in court
  • Coordinate efforts with other law enforcement agencies
  • Provide internal security within a District Attorney’s Office
  • Execute all powers and duties established by statute pertaining to peace officers
  • Provide training to other investigators
  • Supervise other staff
