About The Position

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Finance is hiring a full-time Sr. Insurance Verification Representative in Miami, Florida. The role verifies insurance eligibility and authorization requirements for contracted and non-contracted insurance carriers, and takes appropriate steps to facilitate reimbursement to the department for services rendered. The representative also serves as a lead and helps train new staff. Duties may expand as necessary.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification, or license.
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to a team environment.
Proficiency with office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Responsibilities

Verify insurance information with patients for scheduled appointments and contact payers to verify eligibility and authorization requirements.
Add or update financial status classifications in appropriate systems.
Contact caregivers and patients for HMO payers to obtain authorizations and referrals.
Generate and link referrals to the appropriate visit once authorization is obtained.
Respond to customer inquiries regarding insurance coverage of services and claims processing.
Follow procedures to link alternative insurance plan payers to the appropriate programs during registration.
Identify non-contracted HMO payers and refer them to the appropriate managing department.
Serve as a lead Insurance Verification Representative and assist in training new staff.
Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
