About The Position

The Sr. Instructional Designer is responsible for leading high-visibility learning projects, creating, updating, and delivering training material for both online and classroom learning. This role involves conceptualizing, planning, designing, and producing a wide range of specialized multimedia and programs for the Learning, Enablement & Development department.

Requirements

  • 4 Years – Experience in Field or similar manufacturing environment
  • 4 Years – Experience in Position
  • 2 Years – Experience managing people/projects
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Instructional Design and other related fields or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in adult learning methods and pedagogy
  • Proficiency in Articulate 360, Microsoft Office Suite, Vyond, Camtasia, and associated design software
  • Comparable word processor, page layout, publishing, and illustration software acceptable as a substitute.
  • Proficient in manipulating and synchronizing audio files for use in e-learning
  • Ability to identify and interpret multimedia design needs and to develop creative and responsive design concepts.
  • General instructional design concepts, with an understanding of how a LMS functions and its role in deploying e-learning courses.
  • Able to clearly communicate how to perform complex technical tasks.
  • Strong relationship-building, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-Motivated with a proven record of taking initiative.
  • Able to work effectively in a remote setting with minimal supervision.
  • Detail oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and develop instructor-led and/or multimedia learning courses for Niagara’s internal team members, focusing on leadership, culture, and organizational transformation initiatives.
  • Meet project deadlines according to the department’s development calendar and report project progress following department project management protocols.
  • Troubleshoot multimedia content issues developed by less technical members of the Training and Development team.
  • Provide project strategy and assist with the development of video and audio components for learning assets, including refining raw media using editing software.
  • Administer and maintain media repositories for the department’s internal use.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance web and classroom-based instruction with multimedia technologies.
  • Produce and edit video content as required.
  • Drive curriculum design for compelling training programs and learning activities (instructor-led, online, alternative).
  • Assist in developing and writing content for traditional and e-learning training materials.
  • Maintain an understanding of Niagara’s LMS system, including its basic features, limitations, and functional requirements.
  • Serve as the multimedia technology trainer for staff on techniques and best practices for various media and graphics software.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure content accuracy.
  • Evaluate training program results and modify future programs to better meet business needs.
  • Determine the appropriate multimedia format for the target audience.
  • Develop and deliver training materials on company processes, products, and technologies.
  • Meet commitments, work independently, handle change, and stay focused under pressure.
  • Listen to others and value different opinions, assisting team members to meet goals.
  • Stay abreast of new and innovative learning methodologies and theories.
  • Ensure the accuracy and proper formatting of generated documents according to company/department standards.
  • Occasionally travel to other Niagara facilities to collaborate on documentation and support activities.
  • Manage SharePoint for some web content responsibilities and portal management.
  • Provide leadership to adjacent work teams when their Manager is unavailable.
  • Influence individuals throughout the organization without direct authority.
  • Manage projects of the Learning Team requiring development, including the project management of cross-functional teams.
