About The Position

Installation Electrician are electricians and panel builders who install automation and controls at manufacturing facilities. Installations are typically planned system modifications such as PLC upgrades or replacements. Installation Electrician’s are based out of an office and are typically at a customer site on a daily basis. Out-of-town travel requiring a hotel stay varies from 75% to 100%. Responsibilities

  • Understanding of UL508A and NEC codes
  • Prepare for installation projects as they are assigned
  • Coordinate to help out in the panel shop with panel wiring when installation work is not scheduled
  • Adapt to DSI quality standards
  • Install, wire, terminate & test control system panels and/or panel components
  • Determinate and demo existing control system panels and/or panel components
  • Clean-up by organizing wire routing, replacing wire channel covers, etc.
  • Interface effectively with all customers including CEOs, Production Supervisors, Operators, Maintenance Technicians, Engineers, etc.
  • Perform installations in compliance with NFPA 70E and company safety policies
  • Execute and verify Lockout/Tagout procedures prior to work
  • Work safely in energized troubleshooting environments when required
  • Assist in system startup and commissioning
  • Verify field I/O devices and motor connections
  • Install and test VFDs, PLC hardware, remote I/O, and HMI equipment
  • Support engineering staff during functional checkout
  • Provide redline markups to engineering
  • Document installation changes and discrepancies
  • Install and route conduit (EMT, RMC, flexible, etc.) in industrial environments
  • Install cable tray and support systems
  • Pull and terminate multi-conductor control cables
  • Install and wire field devices (sensors, limit switches, proxes, encoders, safety devices, etc.)
  • Terminate motors, VFDs, and motor control equipment
  • Verify motor rotation and phasing
  • Contribute to developing estimates for installation projects
  • Identify new features on existing systems that customers may want to purchase
  • Identify new projects that might enhance the customer’s operations
