About The Position

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring customers have continuous access to the innovation they rely on. This role is part of the Infrastructure Global Expansion team, focusing on the strategy for data center expansion for edge infrastructure. The position involves developing strategies for growth in key locations for interconnect capacity, building business partnerships, and defining technical approaches to improve resiliency, scalability, cost, and performance. Key deliverables include action plans for addressing short-term constraints and initiating long-lead work for future growth and network optimization. Technical Infrastructure Program Managers in the Internet Edge organization play a crucial role in evolving routing policy, implementing traffic engineering solutions, growing peering footprints, securing the internet 'front door,' and architecting hardware platforms and network designs. They manage terabits of traffic, ensuring capacity stays ahead of demand by collaborating with diverse partner teams to automate and improve internet connectivity in areas like capacity delivery, configuration deployment, impairment detection, and traffic optimization. Decisions made in this role have significant impact across all of Amazon's products.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of program management or technical project management experience
  • 7+ years’ experience driving strategic product or infrastructure decisions
  • 7+ years’ experience in network design, development, or procurement

Nice To Haves

  • MS, MBA, JD, or other advanced degree
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a business case for new features or geographic expansions
  • Knowledge of network design principles and commercial models around network capacity procurement

Responsibilities

  • Setting the future strategies and roadmap for the team across new products, with a focus on EMEA
  • Identifying priority locations within EMEA to re-architect existing infrastructure approaches
  • Managing cross-functional input to inform potential partnerships and build solutions
  • Developing plans of record for scaling and growing infrastructure in different metro areas
  • Setting schedules for infrastructure migrations and re-designs
  • Working with external customers to identify requirements and prospective partnerships to enable new infrastructure launches
  • Improving cost structures for preferred infrastructure architecture
