Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable training in Payroll and 4+ years of Payroll Processing experience.
  • Hands-on experience processing payroll in UKG
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll processing and compliance
  • Experience partnering with outsourced payroll vendors
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential payroll data
  • Fluent in English

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with UKG Workforce Management (WFM)
  • Exposure to Canadian payroll processing and compliance
  • Experience in global or multi-entity environments
  • Familiarity with HRIS and payroll integrations
  • Experience driving payroll process improvements

Responsibilities

  • Execute semi‑monthly payroll in UKG for approximately 232 employees across three US pay groups and one Canadian pay group (approximately 230 employees in the US and 2 in Canada).
  • Validate earnings, deductions, benefits, and taxes
  • Perform pre- and post-payroll audits to ensure accuracy
  • Manage off-cycle and special payments (bonuses, corrections, terminations)
  • Administer payroll garnishments, levies, and other statutory deductions in compliance with regulations
  • Act as primary liaison with payroll vendors (Sability, UKG), supporting payroll operations
  • Coordinate issue resolution and manage escalations
  • Validate vendor outputs against internal payroll data and expectations
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. and Canadian payroll regulations
  • Review and respond to payroll tax notices and agency correspondence, coordinating with UKG and internal partners as needed.
  • Conduct payroll tax filings and year-end activities (W-2s, T4s)
  • Support internal and external audits and maintain payroll documentation
  • Maintain payroll data integrity within UKG
  • Partner with HR/HRIS on employee lifecycle changes impacting payroll (hires, terminations, compensation changes, deductions)
  • Support minor payroll system configuration improvements
  • Serve as payroll SME for HR, Finance, and employees
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries with accuracy and timeliness
  • Partner with Finance on journal entries, G/L reconciliations, and reporting
  • Identify gaps in payroll processes and ownership
  • Recommend practical improvements within the current operating model (Sability vs. UKG managed services)
  • Support the evaluation of the future payroll operating model
