About The Position

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career. As a Sr. Global Portfolio Innovation Manager within 3M's Consumer Business Group - Home Improvement division, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. You will lead the development of new products and platforms from discovery through post-launch, collaborating with portfolio, marketing communications, sales, supply chain, manufacturing, R&D, Insight and other cross-functional team members throughout the project. You will partner with R&D/Laboratory and Finance to develop realistic business cases that clearly define the risks, rewards, and resources needed for new products projects. You will execute the marketing deliverables throughout product/platform development, including front-end innovation activities; stage-gate reviews and requirements; claims, positioning, and packaging development; and strong launch planning and market activation. You will establish the appropriate research objectives for a consumer/customer learning plan to address the most important business questions for new product development, leveraging a mix of art and science with regard to research results to reach conclusions and plans of action. You will influence up, down, and across the organization, and sometimes with external customers, to build diverse networks to enable effective program support, resourcing, and execution. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Seven (7) years of experience in marketing management and/or new products marketing in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Five (5) years of project management and/or cross-functional team leadership
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status)

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or graduate degree from an accredited university, with focus on marketing, strategy, business development, and/or innovation
  • Previous experience working on innovation or emerging technologies/platforms
  • Previous experience working on consumer products portfolios or experience in mass retail, online, and other consumer channels
  • Ability to execute in the near term and drive towards achieving plan within the year but also look to the future to create a roadmap for the portfolio for years to come
  • Experience with agile methodologies and/or working with start-up companies
