About The Position

The Sr Director, Global Product Management is responsible for leading the global product portfolio strategy, roadmap development, and lifecycle management for assigned business areas. Reporting to the Vice President, Transformation & Business Strategy, this role drives strategic portfolio decisions with significant commercial impact, including investment recommendations, business case development, and product lifecycle optimization. The position establishes portfolio management governance, oversees assigned budgets and market intelligence activities, and serves as the key decision-maker for global product management initiatives within the area of responsibility. Working closely with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders across the organization, the Sr Director influences enterprise-wide strategy while managing highly sensitive commercial, competitive, and strategic information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field required; MBA or other advanced business qualification preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in Global Product Management, Portfolio Management, Business Strategy, or related leadership roles within the medical device, MedTech, or healthcare industry, including at least 7 years in people and/or organizational leadership positions.
  • Proven experience managing complex global product portfolios and driving portfolio transformation, lifecycle optimization, and sustainable business growth.
  • Demonstrated success developing business cases, portfolio strategies, and investment recommendations based on strategic and financial analysis.
  • Strong commercial, financial, and strategic planning acumen, including market analysis, competitive assessment, and financial evaluation.
  • Experience leading global cross-functional initiatives and collaborating closely with global R&D organizations, with a strong understanding of product development processes.
  • Experience working effectively within complex international matrix organizations.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities, with the ability to prioritize competing opportunities.
  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing, communication, and executive presentation skills, including the ability to drive alignment without direct authority.
  • High level of accountability, execution discipline, business ownership, and results orientation.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of global portfolio and product strategies aligned with the overall business strategy and transformation agenda.
  • Own the global product portfolio throughout the entire product lifecycle, from market assessment and business case development through lifecycle optimization and end-of-life decisions.
  • Drive portfolio prioritization and investment recommendations, balancing customer needs, strategic objectives, innovation opportunities, technical feasibility, and financial value creation.
  • Partner closely with Global R&D to translate market needs and business priorities into product roadmaps and development priorities.
  • Lead global portfolio governance, including portfolio reviews, business case evaluations, lifecycle decisions, and strategic investment recommendations.
  • Identify market trends, customer insights, competitive developments, and emerging technologies to shape future portfolio direction and innovation priorities.
  • Develop robust business cases supporting new product development, portfolio expansion, partnerships, licensing opportunities, and M&A activities.
  • Drive portfolio transformation through lifecycle optimization, portfolio rationalization, and identification of strategic growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with Commercial, Marketing, Operations, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, and other key functions to ensure successful portfolio execution.
  • Establish and continuously improve portfolio management processes, governance, and decision-making frameworks.
  • Foster a customer-centric, data-driven, and innovation-focused approach to portfolio management.
  • Ensure effective execution of global portfolio management processes across the organization.
  • Drive regular portfolio performance reviews using commercial, financial, and strategic performance indicators.
  • Support strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes through portfolio analysis and recommendations.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and recommend corrective actions where required.
  • Ensure alignment between portfolio strategy, commercial execution, and product development activities.
  • Support successful product launches through cross-functional portfolio coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, quality, and internal governance requirements.
  • Provide executive management with portfolio performance analyses and strategic recommendations.
