Job Summary Senior Generation Engineer- Solar and Battery Energy Storage plays a critical role in advancing the performance and reliability of utility‑scale generation assets, with a strong focus on solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS). This role performs complex engineering work using advanced analytical tools and independent judgment to support the full asset lifecycle, from planning and design through construction, commissioning, operation, and long‑term performance optimization. The Senior Engineer helps turn innovative energy technologies into dependable, high‑performing resources that support system reliability and decarbonization goals. Serving as a technical leader for inverter‑based generation, the Senior Engineer provides expert review of technical studies, models, and vendor documentation, ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective integration of solar and energy storage assets into the grid. This role partners closely across planning, development, and operations teams, acts as a trusted technical authority, and mentors engineers and technical staff; shaping best practices and driving continuous improvement across the power generation portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Within an engineering program that is accredited through the Engineering Accreditation Commission Required
  • 7 years of related experience
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management).

Responsibilities

  • Independently performs work on a variety of complex assignments requiring in-depth analysis to determine appropriate solutions to solve problems.
  • Identifies problems and solutions and makes safety suggestions to maintain a safe work environment, using tools and standards to design safety into operating and maintaining equipment.

  • Applies FIN 102 requirements when executing requisitions, receipts, and related project tasks.
  • Understands various corporate financial statements and can differentiate how project implementation and property unit catalog (PUC) citations will impact the rate payer versus the shareholder, including providing input to PUC modifications as appropriate.
  • Supports Generation facility outages.
