  • Demonstrated experience in utility-scale BESS or solar + storage projects
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Medium- and high-voltage electrical systems
  • Inverter-based resources (IBRs)
  • Protection and controls
  • Experience with power system study tools (e.g., ETAP, PSCAD, SKM, or PSLF)
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (IEEE, NEC, NFPA, UL, utility standards)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret system impact studies and facility studies
  • Coordinate or perform studies such as:
  • Load flow
  • Short circuit
  • Protection coordination
  • Harmonic analysis
  • Ensure compliance with utility and ISO/RTO requirements (e.g., CAISO, WECC)
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, and transmission teams for:
  • Site layout and grading constraints
  • Equipment foundations and trenching
  • High-voltage interconnection design
  • Interface with OEM vendors (battery suppliers, inverter manufacturers)
  • Support project lifecycle from development through IFC (Issued for Construction) design
  • Prepare engineering packages, drawings, and technical reports
  • Support procurement by developing technical specifications and evaluating bids
  • Assist in project scheduling, cost estimating, and risk identification
  • Respond to RFIs and support field engineering during construction
