About The Position

Fort Bend County is seeking a Sr. General Counselor Coordinator for its Legal Department, Civil Division. This role supports attorneys by preparing routine contracts and legal documents, conducting legal research, managing files, and maintaining attorney calendars. The position is crucial for managing legal aspects of county mobility bond projects and ensuring efficient operations within the legal department. Requirements

  • High School/GED required.
  • 2 years of specialized vocational/technical training preferred (Paralegal preferred).
  • 5 years of job-related experience.
  • Strong computer and typing skills (minimum 50 WPM).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • Paralegal Certificate preferred.
  • Notary Public preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares routine contracts and various legal documents related to county mobility bond projects for attorney review.
  • Sets up and maintains legal mobility bond files, work files, and research files.
  • Conducts basic legal research to locate relevant statutes, regulations, and case law.
  • Inputs data into the contract management system and monitors document completion status.
  • Schedules appointments and maintains attorneys’ calendars, including internal and external meeting dates.
  • Prepares for meetings, including agendas and necessary materials.
  • Drafts routine emails and other communications.
  • Facilitates and assists with calls to and from various county departments, title companies, property owners, and other parties.
  • Reviews and organizes property tax statements related to mobility bond projects.
  • Prevents, restricts, and/or regulates disclosure of privileged, exempt, and/or confidential information.
  • Serves as a notary public.
  • Tracks legal expenses related to mobility bond matters.
  • Requisitions purchase orders and supplies when necessary.
  • Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
