About The Position

Trajan Wealth is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer with deep API management experience to build, scale, and secure digital platforms for its financial services products. The role spans customer-facing web experiences, backend services, API gateway capabilities, authentication, and integrations with internal systems, partner banks, and third-party data providers. The engineer will help balance product velocity with platform reliability and work with product, design, security, compliance, and SRE teams to meet financial-services regulatory expectations while delivering customer-facing capabilities. The position is 100% onsite at Trajan Wealth’s Scottsdale corporate headquarters. Engineering teams work in small, autonomous product squads with end-to-end ownership, use trunk-based development and CI/CD, favor small reversible changes, and invest in engineering quality, platform support, technical debt, and learning. The company also describes a blameless incident culture in which postmortems should lead to lasting improvements.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including meaningful experience with both frontend and backend systems.
  • Proficiency with a modern frontend framework (React preferred; Vue or Angular acceptable) and TypeScript.
  • Proficiency in at least one backend language commonly used in financial services: Java, Python, Go, Node.js, or C#.
  • Working knowledge of Dagster or a comparable orchestration framework such as Airflow or Prefect, and Snowflake, including data pipelines, warehouse data modeling, and integration of analytical workloads with operational APIs.
  • Hands-on experience designing and operating production APIs at scale, including REST and ideally GraphQL, gRPC, or event-driven technologies such as Kafka or EventBridge.
  • Direct experience with an API management platform such as MuleSoft, AWS API Gateway, or Azure API Management.
  • Grounding in identity and access standards, including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, mTLS, and API key management.
  • Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including Docker containers and Kubernetes or ECS orchestration.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and at least one non-relational database, with the ability to reason about data consistency, transactions, and idempotency in financial workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver software in regulated environments, including code reviews, change management, audit trails, and the discipline required in financial services.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to product, business, and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience integrating with core banking platforms, payment rails (ACH, SWIFT, FedNow, or card networks), market data providers, or KYC/AML vendors.
  • Familiarity with open banking standards, including FDX in the US or PSD2 / Open Banking in the UK or EU, and consent-driven data sharing patterns.
  • Exposure to financial-grade API security profiles (FAPI) and mutual TLS in production.
  • Experience contributing to a developer portal, internal API marketplace, or platform-as-a-product model.
  • Background working with event sourcing, CQRS, or ledger-style data models.
  • Prior experience as an on-call leader or engineering point of contact during incidents affecting regulated services.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate end-to-end full-stack features, including React/TypeScript front ends, backend services, data persistence, and event-driven integrations.
  • Own the API lifecycle, including RESTful and event-driven API design, versioning, deprecation, backward compatibility, OpenAPI/Swagger documentation, and SDKs.
  • Configure and tune the MuleSoft API gateway platform.
  • Implement and maintain authentication and authorization patterns, including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, mTLS, JWT validation, scoped access tokens, and consent management.
  • Partner with security and compliance teams to meet applicable standards and support internal audits and external regulatory reviews.
  • Build observability into services through structured logging, distributed tracing, metrics, alerting, and meaningful service-level objectives.
  • Write production-quality, well-tested code and support engineering standards through code review, pairing, and mentorship of mid-level engineers.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, lead incident response when needed, and conduct blameless postmortems that produce durable system improvements.
  • Collaborate with product teams to translate business and regulatory requirements into technical designs and contribute to trade-off decisions about scope, risk, and timelines.

Benefits
