About The Position

The Senior Forward Deployed Engineer serves as a trusted technical advisor and problem-solver at a cable assembly production site. The role leads efforts to resolve complex operational and technical challenges across plant operations, system integrations, and cloud-based services. Working closely with plant leadership and the Cadonix development team, the engineer identifies system improvements, influences feature enhancements, and translates manufacturing needs into technical requirements. The position provides on-site technical leadership for smartBuild, including prioritizing and resolving production-critical incidents with plant management and keeping collaborators informed until service is restored. It diagnoses issues across smartBuild’s distributed architecture, from shop-floor components and integrations to AWS cloud services, and works with Development and DevOps teams to improve reliability, performance, monitoring, and deployment. The engineer leads root-cause analysis for major or recurring incidents, drives preventive fixes, and improves runbooks, monitoring, and support processes. The role also contributes to solution design and product roadmap discussions using knowledge of harness manufacturing, and mentors a less-experienced Forward Deployed Engineer. It sets standards for on-site training and documentation for operators, supervisors, and engineers.
