About The Position

The Sr Financial Analyst, FP&A supports Physician Services Finance leadership through financial planning, analysis, and decision support. The role owns analytical deliverables across planning cycles, performance management, and executive reporting, translating complex financial and operational data into actionable insights that inform strategy and improve performance. As Physician Services FP&A develops, the analyst helps establish and scale standards, processes, and reporting capabilities across regions while partnering with regional finance teams and cross-functional stakeholders. The position is based at Forbes Tower in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and follows a hybrid work model combining on-site and remote work. Specific in-office expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in finance or a related business field and at least three years of related work experience, or a high school diploma/GED and five years of related work experience.
Demonstrated expertise in forecasting financial operations and budgeting experience.
Ability to interact effectively with executives and business unit management.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and time management skills.
Strong analytical ability and knowledge of accounting and financial reporting matters.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Act 34 clearance.

Nice To Haves

CPA or MBA.
Prior experience with Power BI, Snowflake, or other business intelligence, data visualization, analytics, and data warehousing platforms.
PeopleSoft General Ledger proficiency.
Knowledge of system operations.

Responsibilities

Compile, consolidate, and review business unit budgets for accuracy and reasonableness based on knowledge of key operational elements.
Develop revenue, volume, FTE, productivity, and scenario-based financial models.
Produce executive-ready analyses and narratives that translate financial and operational results into insights, recommendations, and performance improvement opportunities.
Classify financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Learn and develop expertise in UPMC's operations and systems, including Power BI and Qlik.
Use the PeopleSoft General Ledger and Financial Reporting system to meet reporting and operational requirements, and manage key reports provided to senior management.
Analyze complex financial data, define relevant information, interpret past performance or financial probabilities, recommend budget adjustments, and identify performance improvement opportunities.
Lead and support Physician Services FP&A activities, including annual budgeting, periodic forecasting, variance analysis, and performance reporting across regions.
Consolidate and review regional submissions for accuracy, completeness, and reasonableness.
Communicate and interact consistently with UPMC personnel at varying levels, including senior executive management.
Interpret financial transactions and events and prepare comprehensive analyses for users making economic or business decisions.
Work under tight deadlines while maintaining minimal to no errors.
