Location: This position is onsite at the DE Karn 3&4 plant located in Essexville, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate. This position is a timebound full-time opportunity designed to support a specific business need with an anticipated duration through the cold and dark (retiring the generating facility) transition with an anticipated duration through approximately 2031. General Summary of Job Responsibilities The Senior Equipment Technician is responsible for overseeing the repair, maintenance, and requisitioning of long lead time substation, plant, and field equipment and related materials, approving drawing cycle administration, tracking, closeout, and continuous improvement based problem solving activities. The Senior Equipment Technician will ensure all equipment and repair adhere to all internal safety standards and local, state, and federal safety regulations. They maintain, operate and troubleshoot complex electronic, electrical, mechanical, and other equipment for CMS Energy plant systems, repairing and calibrating electronic components and resolve process control software issues using electronic equipment, diagnostic instruments and various software. Knowledge of national electrical code and requirements for installations in hazardous environments They will also have responsibility for updating training materials and providing training to new employees and keep current staff informed of any new or updated equipment and processes and procedures.
