About The Position

This role is for an EHSS leader who can identify risks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and promote safer behaviors without relying on "policing" or excessive paperwork. The position offers the opportunity to own EHSS programs end-to-end, including permitting, reporting, audits, root cause analysis (RCAs), and sustained corrective actions. The EHSS function is collaborative, action-oriented, and focused on making lasting improvements, supporting environmental stewardship and a safer, more resilient operation across multiple locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in an environmental, health & safety, engineering, or technical field.
  • Seven or more years of relevant experience.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, ethical drive, and a desire to support best in class EHSS.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer skills.
  • Professional attitude.
  • Ability to interact and work successfully in a team-oriented environment.
  • Successful development and implementation of prior safety improvement programs.
  • A proven ability to lead, motivate, and positively influence at all levels throughout organizations.
  • Candidate must demonstrate competencies and ability to be promoted to EHSS Manager or serve as fill-in as necessary.
  • Ability to obtain an Industrial Class K Wastewater License and Certified Landfill Operator license.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in relevant field a plus.
  • Experience with permitting procedures, auditing, and root cause analysis preferred.
  • Experience with OSHA, Industrial Hygiene, EPA FESOP and Title V, NPDES POTW, RCRA permit compliance, and solid waste landfill operations a plus.
  • An Industrial Class K Wastewater License and Certified Landfill Operator license.

Responsibilities

  • Manage health, safety, and environmental (air, waste, water, landfill) compliance, including permitting, reporting, inspections, and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) and behavioral patterns to ensure adherence to organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and lead the implementation of a multi-year safety improvement plan across the company.
  • Maintain EHSS policies, train staff, conduct audits, ensure corrective actions are implemented, and drive ongoing improvements in EHSS programs.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCAs), identify corrective and preventative actions, and track them through to full completion.
  • Design and implement compliance programs, liaise with regulators, and maintain visibility into emerging regulatory issues or changes.
  • Develop metrics, prepare data and analytics reports, conduct research using primary sources, and advise managers on performance trends and areas of need.
